Court injunction for Swindon man who made neighbours' lives miserable

Westlea Housing Association has taken action against a 23 year old male resident in Redhouse, north Swindon, whose antisocial behaviour has made his neighbours’ lives a misery.
“We have had reports of loud music, drinking, and fights at the property since June last year and had warned those involved that they needed to change their behaviour or face the consequences,” said Sue Burnett from Westlea Housing’s antisocial behaviour team. “We always hope that problems can be worked out before court action is needed, but unfortunately that hasn’t happened here.”
Disturbances at the property came to a head on in early December 2009 when a visitor to one of the tenants was bitten by the perpetrator who was arrested following the incident.
Westlea took action immediately and was successful in getting an emergency ‘without notice’ injunction - to prevent further antisocial behaviour - and served possession and demotion papers on the perpetrator. This injunction has since been extended for one year with power of arrest.
“We have taken swift action in this case and have been working very closely with the team at Highworth Police station to gather information about exactly what has been going on. We hope this will alleviate some of the problems in Redhouse and will make it clear to others that antisocial behaviour will not be ignored by Westlea,” said Sue Burnett.
