Potley and Pockeridge
At the end of each section of the survey residents were asked whether there was anything else they would like to tell us. This is a summary of comments made:
The residents at Potley Lane and Pockeridge Road were asked if they had noticed any improvement with regards to their home and neighbourhood over the last 12 months:
- 2 residents commented that keeping the area clear of rubbish has improved.
- 3 respondents
commented that the play area by the community centre has also improved.
- However, 5 residents
suggested that the play area still needs improvement in order for older
children to use it as well.
The residents were asked
whether there was anything else they would like to tell us about their
neighbourhood:
- 5 residents are
concerned about the increase in traffic, the speed of the traffic, and that
there are not enough parking spaces for residents.
- We received 4
comments about the apparent increase of antisocial behaviour and loud
music on the estate.
We asked what
activities/facilities residents would you like to see provided for children and young
people on the estate:
- 10 residents reiterated that the play areas should be improved so that children of all ages
can use it.
- 3 residents would
like to improve the activities/opportunities in the community centre such
as an after-school club.
- 6 Residents would
like more things for young people to do that will keep them occupied.
We asked residents whether there was anything
else they would like to tell us about their children and young people:
- 1 Resident would like
more activities in the community centre especially during the school
holidays.
- 1 Resident would like
to encourage more young people to get involved.
- 1 resident commented
on the improvement in activities and things for small children to do.
We asked whether residents had any comments about crime and community safety:
- 2 residents would like to see an increase of regular policing in the area.
- 2 residents would like more for teenagers to do that would keep them occupied.
- 1 resident suggested installing a CCTV camera by the community centre, to try to identify who is dumping rubbish in the stream.
When asked for any further
comments about training and community groups, residents said:
- Help young people to find
and apply for jobs.
- Get some mothers,
whose children are at school, back to work.
- Get people back to
work who can work.
Westlea works with several partner organisations and asked some questions on behalf of those partners and other organisations. The following number of people requested further information.
