People who do not qualify to be
put on the housing needs register

Because of regulations in the Housing Act 1996 and our policy, we do not allow the following categories of people to loin the housing needs register.

People under 16 years of age will not normally qualify, but we will consider the circumstances of individual cases

-  Property owners who already have reasonable accommodation;

-  People convicted of an offence to do with Parts VI or VII of the Housing Act 1996;

-  People who are under immigration control within the meaning of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996, unless they are accepted by the Secretary of State;

-  People with enough money to sort out their own housing problems, but we will consider the circumstances of individual cases.

-  People who do not live in the area and who do not have a local connection (see below).

Westlea Housing Association runs on behalf of the council an "open" housing register which means that anyone who wants to can apply. It will not matter whether they have a connection with the North Wiltshire district or not. However, if you fill in this application form, it does not mean that you will be offered accommodation now, or in the future. The housing association will not normally rehouse households who owe rent, until this is paid off.
