If you are offered accommodation, you will receive the
offer from the Allocations Section normally at least seven days before
the start of the tenancy. You will have the chance to look at the
property with an Area Housing Officer and make arrangements for moving
your belongings and connecting of services. Tenancies always begin on a
Monday, as soon as the keys are available. Normally,
you will be offered housing in an area you have chosen. However, where
you choose will affect the length of time you will have to wait. So, the
greater the number of areas in which you will accept housing, the
greater will be your chances of earlier rehousing. Towards the back of
the application form, you will find a map and a list of parishes with
the number of housing association properties in each. This list may help
you to decide which areas you would consider moving to. Every
effort will be made to offer you suitable accommodation as long as it is
available. This may be a housing association property, shared-ownership
property or a property managed by Westlea Housing Association under our
short-term letting scheme. The Council's policy on
bedrooms says you should have a separate bedroom for: ·
a couple; ·
a single
parent; ·
a single
child; ·
each person 14 years and over; ·
two children of the opposite sex who are both under six years (if one or
both is over six, you will need separate bedrooms); ·
one or two males up to 13 years; and one or two females up to 13 years. We expect you to accept the first property we offer you, but we will normally give you a further offer if you refuse the first. However, if you refuse a second reasonable offer, we can defer your application for 1 2 months from the date of our second offer. if the offer is for temporary accommodation because you are homeless, or if you are from outside the district, we will not normally give you a second offer. |
